HSH Nordbank Arena is the municipal stadium of Hamburg, Germany. It is home ground to Bundesliga club HSV (Hamburger Sport Verein) – Hamburg’s premier league football team. The arena was originally built between 1951 and 1953 and known as “Volksparkstadion” (People's Park Stadium) until 2001. Most of the building materials came from the ruins of Eimsbüttel, a district of Hamburg destroyed in WW2. This stadium could hold up to 75,000. In 1998 it was decided to demolish the old stadium and replace it with the arena here pictured, which was inaugurated in 2000. The new arena serves both as a football ground and a concert hall. The pitch is equipped with under-soil heating. The capacity of the stadium during club matches is 57,274. less
