Originally built by apprentices from Liverpool’s Cammel Laird Shipyard in Birkenhead for the International Garden Festival held in Liverpool in 1984, the Yellow Submarine is now located on the main public walkway outside the front of Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport. The 25 tonne, 51 foot long submarine had to be removed from its City Centre location due to the Paradise Project development works, which is part of Liverpool's Big Dig regeneration programme. The Yellow Submarine song was recorded by The Beatles just over 40 years ago. less
