Seen from the sky, Terminal 3 at Copenhagen Airport (Københavns Lufthavn) looks like an origami aero-plane. Its immense 10 000-square meter, triangular roof houses passenger traffic: the arrivals hall and transit area is at the base of the triangle, the departure hall in the center as well as access to the railway station. The roof is comprised of two triangular sheets with a dual curvature supported by lateral beams every 6 meters and connecting the two lateral facades and single span longitudinal beams; at the junction of the two, a skylight allows light to penetrate inside the building.
Copenhagen Airport is the main international airport serving Copenhagen, Denmark and the Oresund Region. It is located on the island of Amager, 8 kilometers south of Copenhagen city center, and 24 kilometers west of Malmö city center on the other side of the Oresund Bridge. Copenhagen Airport served 21.5 passengers in 2008. Copenhagen Airport was originally called Kastrup Airport, since it is located in the small town of Kastrup.
